Congratulations to the 2016 Palo Alto Girls Swimming Team on their CCS Championship

Congratulations are definitely in order for the Lady Vikes swimming team.  The girls accomplished one of their preseason goals by winning the third CCS title in the programs history.  It was a team effort all of the way for the girls as they comfortably beat the second place team by 41 points

The girls started the meet off right by claiming second place in the 200 Medley Relay with a  school record time of, 1:44.06.  Zoe Lusk, Grace Zhao, Katie Francis and Peyton Wang did the honors.  In the very next event the 200 Freestyle Zoe Lusk swam a season best 1:51.76 to take 4th place and Sofia Sigrist also helped the cause by capturing 8th place in a time of 1:53.96.

In the 50 Freestyle Grace Zhao placed second with a time of 23.15, and Claire Lin got into the act with a sizzling time of 23.84 to finish 4th.

Mimi Lin set a CCS record with a score of 525 points to capture her second title in a row.  Alice Sapraov and Emma Van Der Veen also placed for Palo Alto and scored important points.  The divers really added a lot to the victory.

Zoe Lusk again came through with a strong swim in the 100 Butterfly with a 5th place finish in a time of 56.69.  In the 100 Freestyle Claire Lin scored points for the team in a time of 53.33.

Grace Zhao decided to add to the fun by winning the 100 Breast stroke in a school and CCS section record of 1:00.96.  The girls finished off their brilliant day with a 6th place finish in the 400 Free Relay.

All of the girls on the team this year did a tremendous job of handling the adversity that was given to them.  The handled it with tremendous pride and grace, and they handled the CCS Section Championship the same way.  Cheering each other on, humbly smiling and enjoying their victory, and smiling the whole way.

Palo Alto is proud of these fine young ladies and their Section Championship.  All of the above girls also qualified for the state meet along with all 3 relays.  The psych sheet will be posted in the results section of the swimtopia website.

Thanks again girls for an amazing victory at CCS!!!!!
